Bacteria will grow the fastest in warm water. The summer is a good time of year to clean the biofilter because the bacteria can grow back quickly. When temperatures are below 60 degrees F, cleaning should be minimal if at all.

Wow, my pond filter is so much easier to clean since i added the Matala filter pads. I wished I had done it a log time ago. My water cleared right up and i can see my fish again. Way cool... thanks.Ron B. Huntington Beach

I changed all my filters over to Matala now. It's the only way to go. I used to have gravel and all kinds of other medias that just didn't seem to work. I highly recommend Matala to anyone with a non pressure type gravity filter.Edgar L.
